Posting a Picture

San DiegoSeveral people asked me if it was possible to post a picture in your blog.  The answer is yes.  After looking at several of your blogs I noticed many of you did upload a picture from your computer, then drag the tiny little thumbnail into a post.  That is one way to do it, if you only want a little thumbnail size photo.  Here are the steps for doing it a second way.

1.  Create a flickr account.

2.  Upload the pictures you would like into your flickr account.  They offer a "Drag and Drop" upload tool which makes it very easy to upload the pictures.

3.  Make sure the permissions are set to public.

4.  Copy the link location of the picture.  This is usually done by right-clicking on the picture and selecting "copy shortcut", or "copy link location" depending on your browser.

5.  Start a post and click on the insert image button (the button with tree).

6.  Paste the link location, and you are done.

Mess around with it and see if you are able to post a picture on your blog – one that is not a thumbnail.  🙂

Remember that the more pictures that you have posted, the slower your blog will load.  This is not a problem for users with broadband, but it is something to keep in mind.

Take care.

  1. Lance – I tried the above mentioned process for uploading a picture several times and it wouldn’t work. I thought the problem might be Mozilla, but I opened in Explorer and the uploaded picture wtill wouldn’t show – just an X in the squarte – any ideas? Linda

  2. Nice pic of the Midway! I love that place…have you tried the flight simulator???

  3. Nice pic of the fam. at the Midway! I love that place…have you tried the flight simulator???

  4. Lance – For me, the solution was to copy image location – not link location. Just FYI – thanks for the lesson! Linda

  5. Flickr is a really great website. For those using Macs, there is a plugin that allows you to upload pictures straight from iPhoto to your Flickr account.

  6. I spent 20 minutes looking for the elusive tree… turns out, these directions don’t work for Safari. Use Firefox and you will be happy. Go see my blog now–it’s more impressive than before.

  7. I use Photobucket and love it, it’s so easy. You upload your image, then come back to your post click the image button (the one that looks like a tree if you have edublogs), then copy the url that was created at Photobucket for you picture and paste it in the image box.

  8. Thanks Bill. The plug-in helped with my photos and using iPhoto.

  9. I did it! I had to play with it a little more, but it worked. Cool, thanks Lance! 🙂

  10. Hi Lance,
I created a flickr account, but couldn’t use it yet.The site stated that it was getting a massage and would be back shortly! I’ll return to it ASAP to experiment. Thanks

  11. Hi Lance,

Thank you for the e-mail. For some reason still I am not able access edublogs.org. I was able to creat fliker account. Try to load some pictures, it worked very well. I am going to discuss with jennifer on monday about the edublog. My husband and me has involved in training African christians to involve in missions to reach out their own people. Therefore I would like my blog to have useful information for training missionaries in the third world countries. I want to post articles wich can be helpful for their ministry.
